From the streets to Gallery.
Recently I’ve been working hard behind the scenes helping co curate Colchester’s first Street Art show, Im super hyped as this is my first attempt at putting together a gallery show and excited to share this with you guys.
Minories gallery is set to host what has been described as Colchester’s first street art exhibition. The show that opens 6:30pm on Friday 13th of October will bring together an exciting diverse mixture of street artists from around the uk. With big names such as “My Dog Sighs” famous for his large reflective eye murals and “Snub 23” known for his giant isometric patterns and robots that cover entire buildings across the UK.
“I was approached by the guys at Crisp Events to help curate the show.
I have vast knowledge of street art and good connections with lots of different artists, it’s a true passion of mine., The aim is to pull together an interesting mix of artist that shows a wide diversity of different style and techniques, I have also enlisted street art photographer Faye Cooper (street art atlas) who has been documenting street art since 2015, as I want to curate a show that tells a story behind each artist, their work on the street and how it translates to gallery setting.
I’m super excited to be bringing this show to my home town and aim to bring street art to a wider audience”.
The Minories is Colchester’s oldest art gallery, first established in 1956 and based in a Georgian Town House on the High Street. The gallery has recently reopened after three years of closure and has received over 2000 visitors in its first month.
Crisp Events aims to attract a fresh audience to the art gallery by showcasing the talent of local artists alongside live music. They hope to create a unique experience that merges art and entertainment to appeal to a broader demographic.
