Eyesaw Gallery Opening
December the 1st saw the grand opening of Eyesaw Gallery Colchester, kicking off with the Winter Blunderland group show. This unique alternative Christmas event drew over 200 art fans on opening night, with people queuing to be first through the door to receive 1 of 20 free screen prints. (I went to the gallery and all I got was this lousy print)
Guests that had travelled from far and wide were also given the chance to meet some of the artists and a rather grumpy Santa whose weird antics were the talk of the evening. In the background, hip hop beats were supplied on a pair of Technic 1210 the way it should be.
Another show highlight was the bad taste Christmas window display that featured a faceless Santa slumped in a chair, naughty elves running a mock in a room full of art, a tree decorated with hand grenades, Barbie in a Landrover ploghing through a heard of reindeer and a nativity scene that replaces baby Jesus for a pile of consumer goods.
For all those who couldn't join us on the opening night or want to relive the experience, The show runs untill the 14th of January and is open 10am till 5pm every weekend.
